Woman selling house (and hand in marriage) wants to be a singer
Wina Lia, who became popular almost overnight because of her house ad, wants to put her new-found fame to good use and launch a singing career

She says she’s been “shocked at the reaction” and didn’t really expect to become popular almost overnight because of it. But now that she is, well, she wants to put it to good use.

The 40-year-old mother of two wants to pursue a singing career.

“Actually, I’ve been planning to release a single even before my ad went viral. Maybe it’s a way given by God. He has given me a chance and I think that it’s the right time for me to launch my first dangdut single,” Wina told Viva.co.id on Thursday, March 12.

Dangdut is a popular form of folk and traditional Indonesian music.

“I want to nurture my singing talent. Maybe this (becoming popular because of the ad) can help me realize my old plans,” she added.

Wina hasn’t set a launch date for her single yet. For now, she’s kept busy by her new-found popularity.

“Many journalists come and call me for interviews. I was also invited to guest in a television show,” she said. “(I still) hang out with my fellow young mothers and go to religious meetings.”

So far there has only been one potential buyer, who visited on Wednesday, but she refused to give further details.

Wina previously said the important thing is for the man to be single and a good Muslim who would be a mature and responsible father to her kids.

She said she did have an unexpected visitor, however: The police.

They “came to verify the news as they consider it as an improper advertisement. But I explained to them that it was not my idea,” she said.

She told them again that she had asked a friend who was a property agent to help her find a buyer for the single-storey house – and in the process a husband – but she had expected him to pass on the news to a limited number of people, not put an ad online.

This means, though, that the house is still for sale. For those who are interested, Wina is selling the house — which has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a parking space and a fish pond – for IDR999 million ($76,500). If the buyer doesn’t negotiate the price, he can take Wina as his wife. – with a report from Agence France-Presse/Rappler.com
