HIGHLIGHTS: World Economic Forum on East Asia 2015
Jakarta is hosting the 24th World Economic Forum on East Asia, with the theme 'Anchoring Trust in East Asia’s New Regionalism'

JAKARTA, Indonesia (UPDATED) — East Asia continues to be the world’s most populous and fastest-growing region. Projected to maintain an average growth rate above 7%, the region holds enormous possibilities.

But there are several challenges ahead. Geopolitical tensions are growing between key players in the region. Governments are both optimistic and worried over the launch of the ASEAN Economic Community at the end of the year. And as the world closely watches the rise of emerging markets like Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Vietnam, governments struggle to battle the usual problems of corruption and weak governance.

About 700 participants from more than 40 countries, including 180 CEOs and chairpersons, and 40 ministers and international organization representatives, are gathered in Jakarta for the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia from April 19-21 to discuss these questions and more.
