On April 11, Muhammad Prio Santoso, known as Rio, killed a sex worker named Deudeuh Alfi Sahrin, or Tata Chubby by strangling her to death.

“The defendant might face life sentence,” Prosecutor Wahyu Oktaviandi said during the first trial at South Jakarta district court, Monday, September 21.

Wahyu said that Rio, a married man who worked as teacher, was charged with multiple crimes. Besides premeditated murder, Rio is also charged with theft and violence for stealing Tata’s belongings.

During the trial, the prosecutor revealed the reason that triggered Rio to kill Tata.

According to the prosecutor, Tata was not comfortable with their sex position because of Rio’s odor.

“What is taking you so long? Your body is stinky, making me want to pass out. Also you’re dirty, sticky, black, and yet, alive. Make it quick!,” the prosecutor quoted Tata as saying.

Rio was so offended with Tata’s statements, that he strangled her with a hairdryer cable and stuffed her mouth with a sock. She was found dead in her rented room in Tebet.

Rio did not file an objection against the prosecutor’s indictment. The next trial will be held next week. – Rappler.com
