Teens lure 10-year-old girl with ice cream before rape, murder
JAKARTA, Indonesia – A 10-year-old girl was found dead in a hut in Sumbermarga Village in East Lampung 3 days after she went missing.
Local media reports said that the young girl was said to have been killed by a blow of a blunt object after being raped, according to local police.
"From the results of the examination, there were marks on her head of severe beating with a blunt object. It’s suspected that the victim was killed, "said Hermansyah of the local criminal police. Hermansyah, like many Indonesians, goes only by one name.
Hermansyah said the victim was missing for 3 days before her body was found. She was said to be on her way home from school when two young boys in a motorcycle lured her away using ice cream.
The student’s rape and death only gained nationwide attention a month after her body's discovery, following increased attention towards violence against women. She was found on April 17. (READ: Why we should care about the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl)
Last week, a 14-year-old Indonesian student also made headlines – but not until a month after her lifeless body was found after a brutal gang rape.
Yuyun disappeared on Saturday, April 2, but her story did not make it to mainstream news until a month later partly because of the remote location of her village.
Her bruised corpse was found in a ravine 3 days after her disappearance in Bengkulu Province, her feet and hands bound, and naked.
She too was on her way home from school when she was believed to have been dragged into the woods by someone she knew, and raped by 14 young men more than once each. The boys were believed to have been drinking. She was then hit on the head by timber and killed. – Rappler.com
