University student hangs self after getting bad grades
The student was found in a sleeping position but with ropes around his neck

JAKARTA, Indonesia – A suicide case rocked University of Indonesia earlier this week after a student was found dead on Tuesday, May 31.

According to Teguh Nugroho, the head of Depok Police’s criminal investigation unit, a 21-year-old accounting student was found dead with ropes around his neck, leading police to think he had earlier hung himself from his room in Depok, West Java.

Nugroho is quoted as saying that the student “was found in a sleeping position but with ropes around his neck.”

“I wanted him to be taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital to ascertain the cause of death, but the family refused to autopsy him,” Nugroho told local media.

The student was said to have been stressed and bothered about his bad grades, according to witnesses and is the suspected cause of death.

The police also said they do not think anyone was in the room before the incident, as it was locked from inside, leading them to conclude it was a suicide.

Cleaners who found the body said they were suspicious when they noticed his dorm room was locked but the window was open. They said they noticed the body but said it looked like the student was sleeping soundly. – Rappler.com
