15-year-old allegedly kidnapped, gang raped by 6 men

JAKARTA, Indonesia – A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by six men in Tangerang, Indonesia last week. The incident took place when the girl boarded a minivan, a common form of public transportation in Indonesia, that was supposedly on its way to Cikokol, Tangerang.

Instead of taking the girl to her destination however, two of the alleged perpetrators drove the minivan to a rented house in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang. In the house, 4 other men were already waiting.

There, the men allegedly took turns raping the teenage girl.

“The men held down the victim’s hands, feet and gagged her mouth. There were 6 perpetrators,” said South Tangerang police officer Alexander Yurikho on Monday, November 28.

After they were satisfied, the perpetrators let the girl go.

The victim’s family reported the incident to the police on Sunday, November 27. 4 of the perpetrators were arrested at the rented house where the incident took place.

The perpetrators were identified only by their initials, CH (21), RA (18), AA (19), and AD (17). Two others, TS and DS fled the scene and are still being pursued by the police.

They will be prosecuted under Child Protection Laws, which carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. The victim’s family has demanded that all the perpetrators be sentenced to death.

This incident is the latest in a string of sexual violence in Indonesia this year. 

In May, a 14-year-old girl was gang raped and killed in a small village on the western island of Sumatra, while in September, police busted an online pedophile ring in West Java. – Rappler.com
