PHOTOS: Clintons ‘over the moon’ to be grandparents

NEW YORK, United States – She is in the middle of deciding whether or not to run to become America’s first female president but for now, Hillary Clinton only has one job title in mind: grandmother.

The former US Secretary of State was ecstatic at the birth of her grandchild, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky, daughter of her only child with former US President Bill Clinton, Chelsea. Hillary Clinton called Charlotte’s birth “one of the happiest moments of our life.” 

Charlotte is the Clintons’ first grandchild. Chelsea announced her birth on Saturday, September 27, via Twitter and Facebook. 

The Clinton couple and Chelsea posted on their social media accounts the first photos of the baby on Saturday, showing her delighted parents and grandparents:

In June, the former US first lady, 66, told People Magazine she will balance becoming grandmother while preparing for what could be her second presidential campaign.

“I want to live in the moment. At the same time, I am concerned about what I see happening in the country and in the world,” Hillary Clinton said.

Former President Clinton, 68, said he was looking forward to becoming a grandfather but will not meddle with how Chelsea and husband investment banker Marc Mezvinsky will raise their child.

“We need to be therein a supportive role,” he told Bloomberg. “But we don’t need to overstep.”

The birth of their grandchild comes as the Clintons mount the machinery for a possible Hillary campaign.

This week, the Clintons were together at the 10th annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative, which the former President founded to get world leaders and business executives to commit to solve the world’s most pressing problems. – Rappler.com
