HIGHLIGHTS: Nestea Beach 2014 day 2

BORACAY, Philippines – It was all about good, clean fun during the second day of Nestea Beach 2014.

On land, the day started early with a beach cleanup mounted in partnership with AirAsia and the local unit of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). For two hours, volunteers were given gloves and sacks and deployed to all 3 stations to pick up litter left from the previous night’s festivities.

Paper cups, bottles, cigarette butts, and beer cans were among the common kinds of trash collected. John Lam, a student, won domestic trip tickets for bringing in the most trash, which weighed about 45 kg. Of the experience, he said: “It was fun, because in the morning [we do] walking in the beach anyway.” The collected garbage from all volunteers amounted to 375 kg.

“Our garbage has been reduced because of the ongoing campaign for waste management here in Boracay,” said Jonne Adeniel, officer-in-charge of Boracay’s DENR unit. An ordinance already requires establishment owners to clean up the area in front of their properties.

The Nestea Beach Volleyball competition was also in full swing as the second wave of eliminations began. 13 teams will march to the semifinals and championship rounds on May 3.

By afternoon, Nestea’s yacht sailed off for an exclusive boat party. 100 people signed up to join the trip. Guests were able to hang out with celebrities like Sam Gogno, Kelly Misa, and Gretchen Ho. 

DJ Callum David and The Zombettes provided non-stop music throughout the ride. Nestea drinks were paired with shots provided by Hennessy. Chico, Delamar, and Gino from RX 93.1 hosted the event.
