The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announces today the results of the Civil Aviation Officer Candidate Scholarship Program (CAOCSP) simultaneously held at six (6) testing center (Manila, Laoag, Cebu-Mactan, Zamboanga and Cagayan de Oro/Laguindingan last July 11,2015.

Out of the 1,078 examinees, a total of 158 passed the competitive examination with the cut-off score of 55 and above.

Seven (7) out of the top ten successful examinees are women:

  • Ms. Bettina Collantes garnering a score of 74
  • Ms. Rochelle Ann Labina of Cordova Cebu (73)
  • Ms. Cathy Beniga Venzon of General Santos (71)
  • Ms. Mayneth Vince Oftana (71)
  • Mr. Terrence Jan Maguddayao of Binan Laguna (71)
  • Ms.Royce Formaliza (71)
  • Mitchelle Mumar (70)
  • Ms.Janiz Suyko
  • Mel Anthony Vega
  • Alan Valiente(69).

Two (2) CAOCSP will be implemented each year with a total budget of PhP 47,993,914.92. The second examination this year will be held on December at all Caap testing centers.

The program per officer candidate costs PhP 399,949.29. The CAOCSP total cost for sixty (60) officer candidates totals PhP 23,996,957.46.

CAOCSP program was establish by the aviation authority to address the needs and ensure adequacy of aviation professionals, qualified and appropriately trained to perform the technical functions of the CAAP. 

The program will be able to attract, train, educate and bind the new generation of aviation professionals by providing benefits and allowances during the training period. It will ensure that officer candidates will not only be trained for first post assignment but also be prepared for a continuous professional evolution. Entry-level remuneration exceeds salaries of middle level corporate employees.

The Philippines being a contracting state of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) thru the CAAP is mandated to establish a program to address the need for the “Next Generation of Aviation Professionals” (NGAP) ensuring adequacy of aviation professionals to fulfill its mandate. – Rappler.com/Press Release
