Diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp., the country's biggest business group, is going full blast in its expansion into the extractive industry

MANILA, Philippines - The holiday cheer seemed to have spilled over to the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) as it again breached the 5,800 level as early as mid-day trading on Wednesday, December 26.
The PSEi was up 0.45% or 25.92 points to 5,849.86 by midday, only a few hours day after Christmas.
The All Shares index was also up 0.32% or 11.94 points to the 3,712.44 level.
As of midday, some 481.28 million shares worth P1.46 billion changed hands.
There were 79 gainers and 58 decliners. Some 31 shares remained unchanged.
