MANILA, Philippines – Legacy carrier Philippines Airlines (PAL) is offering its economy seats for roundtrip Manila-London-Manila tickets at $1,052, all-in.

PAL, which will restart its Manila-London non-stop flight on November 4, said the promotional introductory fare for economy seats include:

  • base fare of $472
  • government taxes of $209.90
  • fuel surcharge of $328
  • travel tax of $38
  • ticketing service fee of $5

PAL is also offering business class, roundtrip tickets starting at $2,900. (READ: PAL’s Manila-London flights start at $440+)

Economy passengers can check in up to 20 kilos of baggage for free and have 7 kilos of hand-carried baggage. Business class travelers are allowed 40 kilos of checked-in baggage.

These promotional fares are on sale until January 14, 2014. Travel period is from November 4, 2013 to May 31, 2014.

Economy tickets cannot be rebooked or refunded, PAL stressed. Tickets though may be refunded when application for a British visa is denied.

PAL will mount twin-engine, 370-seater Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for the route, which it will service 5 times a week.

Flights will be between Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 (NAIA-2) and Terminal 4 of Heathrow airport, the world’s busiest international airport.

PAL’s London flights marks the first direct link between the Philippines and Europe after KLM stopped its direct Manila-Amsterdam flights in 2012.

This also highlights the first time a Philippine carrier is mounting flight to Europe following the lifting of the safety ban by the European Union in July after the local aviation regulator met the safety standards of the 27-member economic bloc. (READ: PAL can fly direct to UK)

Other European destinations soon to be opened by PAL include Amsterdam, Rome and Paris. The flag carrier stopped flying to Europe in 1998. – Rappler.com
