HOSPITALS AND CLINICS. Ayala Land and Mercado General Hospital Inc are planning 10 new hospitals and 10 new clinics over 5 years.

MANILA, Philippines – Ayala Land Inc. announced plans to build 10 new hospitals, offering 1,000 beds and 10 clinics over a 5-year span.

The company opened its first medical facility, QualiMed, in its Quezon City mall, Trinoma on Wednesday, February 19.

At the opening, Antonino Aquino, Ayala Land president and CEO, said the company will be putting up hospitals within its mixed-used developments. Clinics will also be put up in its shopping malls across the country.

He explained, “Our QualiMed joint venture supports our strategy of completing the offerings in our integrated mixed-use developments. They will be launched in most of our major communities, starting with NUVALI, Atria Iloilo, North Point Negros, and Altaraza Bulacan. For greater accessibility we will also have satellite clinics like this first one in Trinoma.”

Additional locations include Pampanga, Balintawak, Cavite, Cebu, Davao and Arca South, formerly Food Terminal Inc.

The hospitals will have a 100- to 150-bed capacity, and will be a joint venture between Ayala Land and Mercado General Hospital Inc. (MGHI), which has nearly 60 years of experience in healthcare services. Mercado started an advanced multi-specialty, ambulatory surgical center in UP Manila, and also operates the Daniel O. Mercado Medical Center in Batangas.

“It has always been our vision as medical practitioners to provide quality medical care to as many Filipinos as we can possibly reach. We are in the middle of the journey and partnering with Ayala Land helped us take a big leap towards fulfilling this dream,” said Dr. Edwin Mercado, president of MGHI.

Ayala Land plans to set up QualiMed satellite clinics in Fairview Terraces in Quezon City, Metropoint in Pasay, UP Town Center in Quezon City, and Cebu Business Park. The satellite clinics will provide comprehensive medical services, including cardiac, dental, pulmonary, and vaccination services. The clinics will also offer diagnostic imaging and laboratory services. – Rappler.com
