WATCH: Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep in ‘Into The Woods’ teaser

MANILA, Philippines – Another musical is coming to the big screen. 

Disney has released the trailer of the movie adaptation of Into The Woods, based on the musical which weaves together selected tales of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales brings them to life in vibrant song. 

The trailer features a glimpse of the characters such as Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Jack (of Jack and the Beanstalk), played by Daniel Huttlestone, Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy), and Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford). They are connected by the story of a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), who are longing for a child, but must break the curse of the witch.

The film, directed by Rob Marshall of Chicago and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, also stars Chris Pine as the Prince, Johnny Depp as the Wolf, and Meryl Streep as the Witch.

Since its 1987 Broadway premiere, Into The Woods has been produced all over the world. The film is based on the musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. Some of the songs from the musical such as “Children Will Listen,” “Giants in the Sky,” and “On the Steps of the Palace,” will also be heard on the film version. 

Into the Woods will hit theaters in January 2015. – Rappler.com
