MANILA, Philippines – Who says you can’t have the best of both worlds?
It was a party for music festival lovers at Closeup Forever Summer as indie and EDM acts shared their beats until dawn at the MOA Concert Grounds on May 16, 2015.
Artists such as Autotelic, Sinyma, BP Valenzuela, and Angus and Julia Stone got to share their unique sounds with a large Manila crowd. When nighttime struck, the EDM celebration happened featuring acts such as Nix Damn P and Motherbasss, Eva Shaw, and Martin Garrix.
Sweet summer
In the afternoon, local band Autotelic started the indie set with their pop beats. Composed of Josh Villena, Kai Honasan, Neil Tin, EJ Edralin, Timothy “Pabs” Vargas, and Gep Macadaeg, Autotelic surely filled the heart’s content of indie lovers.
For Sinyma, another Manila-based group, their electronica sound would make anyone move according to the beat. If you’re looking for good vibes to dance your blues away, Sinyma might just be your go-to band.

All the way from Australia, Angus and Julia Stone also performed. Their first time in Manila was epic. Julia even said some Filipino words such as “magandang gabi” and “kamusta kayo” when they went through their set.
EDM party
Nix Damn P and Motherbasss gave their all playing party mixes which pumped up the crowd. The duo showed Pinoy pride as they made their mark in EDM.

Right then, Eva Shaw played a long set for the crowd.
One of her mixes during the night include Calvin Harris’ “Outside” featuring Ellie Goulding.
The long wait was over for Martin Garrix. Martin played his mixes of popular hits such as Disclosure’s “Latch” featuring Sam Smith, Zedd’s “Clarity” featuring Foxes, and Bastille’s “Pompeii.”
Despite some technical problems during his set, Martin was able to pull it off by leaving a night to remember through his tunes.
Aside from the music acts, Closeup set up a kiss cam to let folks “get instensely close” with someone, as they say. The fireworks display added excitement for the partygoers as time passed.
