Giant inflatable minion stops traffic in Ireland
Dublin councilor Paul McAuliffe says that while the incident may seem humorous, it could have led to more serious consequences

MANILA, Philippines – Real life mirorred fiction on August 3, when a giant inflatable minion escaped form its harness and tumbled onto Old Swords Road in Dublin, Ireland.

The inflatable minion was used as advertising on a fairground, and was estimated to be 30 to 40 feet high by onlookers. Reports say that the minion flew off its moorings because of high winds and blocked off an entire road.

The local authorities were called and the minion has since been deflated and put away, with no injuries or accidents reported.

Dublin councillor Paul McAuliffe, however, said that the incident could have led to more serious incidents. “This afternoon’s incident on the Old Swords Road in Santry, which saw a giant inflatable Minion escape from its harness and tumble onto a busy local road, may at first glance seem like a humorous social media story. However it could have led to a far more serious incident,” said the councillor in a statement

McAuliffe also said that he asked the Council to investigate and provide a report on the incident, and to interview the fairground operators. – Rappler.com
