The group turns blocks of ice into works of art, set to music

MANILA, Philippines  Ice Beat Factory is in town, and they are set to create works of art out of blocks of ice, set to music, before the audience at the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.

During the press conference Wednesday, December 3, Ice sculptor Max Zuleta showcased his skills as he made a jeepney out of the ice while the other members of the group performed their music.

Max said that given a chance he would like to check out Laguna, saying that he heard that many great ice sculptors are from there.

“I don’t know any mediocre Filipino sculptors. There is this one gentleman, who placed at the Global Championships and he is Filipino. I know some chefs who are spectacular sculptures with butter sculptures and wood sculptures and they are really extremely talented,” he said.

When asked how he does his work with the music, Max said that it is all about timing. Max also added that they will also showcase other Filipino-themed ice sculptures in their upcoming shows.

The group was founded by Max and Nima Rezai. Using chainsaws and various tools, Ice Beat Factory turns blocks of ice into art accompanied by powerful music and light spectacles.
