MANILA, Philippines – Darryl Reciña describes himself as very Piscean: someone who’s sensitive and embedded with the qualities of a daydreamer.

He credits his friends — the Panty Monsters — for helping him grow and develop as a person. It’s also because of them that his personal fashion sense evolved.

He says, “I’d rather hear people say ‘What are you wearing?’ than ‘Wow, ang ganda!'”

A singer by nature, he was part of his high school’s choir and is a big fan of American Grammy-award winning R&B artist Maxwell, the band Antony and the Johnsons and Mariah Carey. He believes that Regine Velasquez is the best Filipino singer of all time, and that she simply outshines the others.

Besides singing, Darryl manages Rabbit Hole Creatives, a company that organizes and does style and design for pre-nup shoots and other events.

An ardent believer of universal human rights, Darryl wishes not to be categorized. He believes that what he fights for is not just for the LGBT community, but for every one else.

“Love is universal. It may be cliche, but it’s true,” he says, his presence foreboding but his nature, quiet.

His goal in life? “I want to make a difference, to do something that would influence other people positively.”

In achieving that goal, Darryl is guided by his favorite quote from singer Billie Holiday: “The difficult, I can do today. The impossible will take a little longer.” – Rappler.com

(The PANTY MONSTERS are a renegade group of fashion, music and art practitioners and lovers. They advocate equality and respect for all, regardless of sexual orientation or clothing size. They have strong personalities but also have the biggest hearts; their minds a bottomless trove of ideas. They live and love beyond the norm because, for them, to not be normal does not equate to being evil — there is nothing wrong with being different. The PANTY MONSTERS are all about keeping it real, because “real” is the new sexy.)
