How Archie Andrews will die in ‘Life with Archie’

MANILA, Philippines – If you do not want to find out how Archie Andrews dies, you need to stop reading now. This is the spoiler alert, and you have been warned. 

Back in April, it was announced that the beloved star of the famous Archie comics would be killed off in the Life with Archie series, which explores different scenarios faced by the gang in the future. 

We now know how Archie will be meeting his untimely death: according to the Associated Press (AP), Archie will die trying to save his friend, Kevin Keller, from an assassination attempt.  

Kevin Keller is the series’ first openly gay character. According to the report, in this universe, Kevin is “a married military veteran and newly elected senator who’s pushing for more gun control in Riverdale after his husband was involved in a shooting.” The identity of Archie’s killer has not been revealed. 

“We wanted to do something that was impactful that would really resonate with the world and bring home just how important Archie is to everyone,” said Jon Goldwater, Archie comics publisher and CEO, according to the piece by the AP. “That’s how we came up with the storyline of saving Kevin. He could have saved Betty. He could have saved Veronica. We get that, but metaphorically, by saving Kevin, a new Riverdale is born.”

The series will be ending with this story, as fans of Life with Archie will find out how things work out for the iconic red-headed comic book character. Issue 36, which drops on July 16, will show the events of his death, while readers will see how the Riveradale gang is coping with his death in issue 37. – Rappler.com
