Accepting applications: UniPro NYC looking for blog editor

The following announcement is from Pilipino American Unity for Progress

UniPro seeks an editor/blog manager to oversee the community blog. The editor/blog manager will manage publication of relevant stories and articles that resonate with the young Fil-Am community and the larger Pilipino community worldwide. Content on the blog includes the following:
▪ Community events and initiatives
▪ News and current events (ie: disasters, election coverage, etc.)
▪ Features (ie: historical pieces, reviews, interviews, profiles on important figures/organizations, etc.) 
▪ Editorials
▪ Press Releases
 
Responsibilities:

▪ Oversee recruitment and retention of staff writers 
▪ Schedule assignment deadlines for staff writers
▪ Edit submitted blog posts for publication
▪ Coordinate additional posts on community events, press releases and items submitted by guest contributors
▪ Report to the Board of Directors and Program Directors on a regular basis

Qualifications:

▪ Bachelor’s degree or higher (may be working on degree at time of application)
▪ Excellent organization, communication and networking skills
▪ Strong ability to work with little supervision
▪ Strong ability to manage a team of staff writers via telecommunications
▪ Highly proficient in the English language (grammar, spelling, structure) 
▪ Familiarity with AP writing style (or other styles of writing) 
▪ Experience writing at least one of the following: essays, academic papers, news articles, press releases, blogs
▪ Experience with WordPress and HTML
▪ Experience with photo editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, iPhoto, etc. is a plus 
▪ Experience working within the Pilipino community is a plus 
▪ Knowledge of Pilipino/Pilipino American issues is a plus
 
This position is unpaid, however, the editor will have the creative license to design and manage the UniPro Community Blog. The editor has the opportunity to also contribute as a staff writer and gain visibility via UniPro’s social media channels, including Facebookand Twitter. 
Previous UniPro editors, staff writers and guest contributors have even had their posts featured on Rappler.
