MANILA, Philippines – Here’s some respite for government employees in areas devastated by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Friday, November 22, announced that government employees in typhoon-ravaged provinces may be entitled to leave with pay from the first working day (November 11) after the onslaught of the typhoon until the situation in their areas returns to normal.

Once their status improves,  the heads of agencies in the affected areas may require employees to work in rotation to resume operations, or assist in relief or rehabilitation efforts, said CSC Chairman Francisco Duque III said.

Government employees may also be temporarily assigned to work in the field office nearest to their place of residence should it become physically impossible for them to reach their original place of assignment.

The CSC has tasked agency heads in regional or field offices to be in charge of accounting for all employees and monitoring the situation.
