‘Necessary stop’

At the Naga City Hall, city officials and employees, civic leaders, students, a brass band, and a choir greeted the convoy, and the PNP again rendered arrival honors.

His remains were then brought at the People’s Hall inside the city hall compound at 11 am.

A liturgical ceremony and mass were celebrated soon after the arrival.

It will stay there overnight.

Naga City Mayor John Bongat said the City Hall is a necessary stop for Robredo’s remains.

“Hindi kumpleto ang period of mourning natin kung hindi dadaan si Secretary sa City Hall,” said Bongat.

In the afternoon, the reading of the Resolution of Condolences of the Metro Naga Development Council (MNDC), a necrological service by Camarines Sur/Naga area pastors and ministry leaders, public viewing and vigil, and a mass have been scheduled.

Another necrological service is scheduled in the evening, while the public viewing and vigil are scheduled until 12 midnight Sunday.

Before he joined the national government, Robredo served a total 6 terms as Mayor of Naga City.

He successfully turned the city from a third class city to a first class city. – Rappler.com
