MANILA, Philippines - The Sandiganbayan on Wednesday, December 19, denied the request of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for a furlough this Christmas.

The court also denied a similar request made by Arroyo's co-accused, Sergio Valencia, Manuel Morato, and Benigno Aguas.

They were earlier charged with plunder in connection with allegations that they misused the intelligence funds of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Mrs Arroyo, who is now Pampanga representative, is under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center. - Rappler.com
