Fourteen pink jeepneys, with drivers wearing pink uniforms, will transport only women, children, and persons with disabilities during rush hours in the Guadalupe-Pateros route

MANILA, Philippines – Public transport operators in the Guadalupe-Pateros route in Metro Manila will launch on Saturday, February 14, pink jeepneys that will ferry only women, children, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) during rush hours.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said it supports this initiative of the Guadalupe-Pateros Jeepney and Operators’ Association (Guacempajoda).

The drivers of the 14 pink jeepneys will also be wearing pink uniforms starting on the morning of Valentine’s Day.

Under the “Para sa Interes Ng Kababaihan, Kabataan at may Kapansanan” (In the Interest of Women, Youth, and PWDs) project, the pink jeepneys will be plying the Pateros-Guadalupe route from 6 am to 9 am, and from 4 pm to 7 pm.

“This Guacempajoda project will be a big help in providing convenient transportation to women, young people, and persons with disabilities, especially during rush hours, going to and coming from their workplaces and schools,” LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez said in Filipino on Friday, February 13.

“Pink Jeepney is a noble program that we hope will serve as a model for other PUJ operators to replicate in their respective routes to better serve those sector that are having difficulty commuting,” Ginez said. – Rappler.com
