CEBU CITY, Philippines – Eighteen ferry passengers were injured and sent to a government hospital following an accident at pier 1 in Cebu City early Tuesday, March 10, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Cebu station. 

Rodolfo Villajuan, PCG Cebu Station Commander, said that the MV St. Sealthiel of the Supercat line, which is owned by 2Go Shipping, hit the port while manuevering to dock at around 8:20 am. 

“(It) accidentally hit the pier allegedly due to defective steering system,” Villajuan said in a text message. The ferry came from Tagbilaran City.

Villajuan said that based on initial information the 18 passengers who were awaiting to disembark had minor bruises. They were sent to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment. – Rappler.com
