Nervous? Aga Muhlach doesn’t show it

MANILA, Philippines – Is he struggling against a well-entrenched political clan? Actor Aga Muhlach doesn’t show it.

He said he’s on the right track to defeat his opponent in the congressional race in the fourth district of Camarines Sur. Muhlach, a member of the ruling Liberal Party (LP), is running against Nationalist People’s Coalition candidate Wimpy Fuentebella, son of incumbent district representative and House Deputy Speaker Arnulfo Fuentebella. The Team PNoy senatorial ticket visited Camarines Sur in the Bicol Region on Friday, May 3, with a week left into the national campaign.

“I don’t want to say I’m confident but I would like to think I’m on the right track now. They say my opponents are rich and hard to defeat but the people here are tired of their governance already. We have six towns but four of these lack roads. This is what pushed me to fight him. I’m inspired,” Muhlach told reporters in an interview.

“What the President is advocating – matuwid na daan, that is what our district needs,” he added.

The actor was almost disqualified from running after his voter registration was nullified by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) due to his lack of residency. The Comelec’s decision, however, was reversed by the Court of Appeals.

Aga admitted that his background in showbiz will help his bid in Congress especially that the public already knows him. “Perhaps there’s an advantage that the people know me. People want to see what’s inside me, what’s inside my heart. And it’s hard to lie to the public. They know who is lying and who is corrupt,” he said.

Aga also urged Bicolano voters to go for the Team PNoy ticket who would support the President’s programs. – Rappler.com
