MANILA, Philippines – Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte remains the presidential candidate most talked about on Facebook, based on conversations on the social networking site as of May 2.

His running mate, Senator Alan Peter Cayetanowas the most talked about vice presidential candidate on the same site, with 42% discussing him.

According to Facebook’s report, 83% of people engaged in election-related conversations on the network talked about Duterte. Liberal Party candidate Manuel Roxas II was the second most-discussed presidential candidate with 57%; Senator Grace Poe, 3rd with 50%; Vice President Jejomar Binay, 33%; and Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, 27%.

Among vice presidential candidates, Camarines Sur congresswoman Leni Robredo followed Cayetano with 37%; Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, 35%; Senator Francis Escudero, 28%; Senator Antonio Trillanes IV with 34%; and Senator Gringo Honasan II, 3%.

Meanwhile, the topic of transparency was still the most talked about issue during the period monitored, with 84% discussing it, followed by the economy and education, with 41% and 32%, respectively.

 

 

The figures were based on engagement from November 20, 2015, to May 2, 2016. A total of 20.8 million users were in conversations related to Philippine elections, generating 229 million interactions globally.
