MANILA, Philippines – San Beda College patron Manuel V. Pangilinan has picked his choice for the next coach of the Red Lions.

According to Spin.ph, the business tycoon has recommended Red Lions assistant coach Boyet Fernandez for the spot.

His announcement comes off the resignation of coach Ronnie Magsanoc, two months after leading the Red Lions to their 17th NCAA championship in his debut season for the team.

Both Fernandez and Magsanoc serve as assistant coaches for the Meralco Bolts. Pangilinan owns the team alongside the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters in the PBA. Despite making his recommendation known, Pangilinan said that the school officials have the final decision on who will be Magsanoc’s replacement.

As of now, there has been no official announcement from San Beda College on who will take the vacant position.
