Lakers owner dies - report

MANILA, Philippines --- Just a few days after he was hospitalized due to cancer, Los Angeles Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss died Monday, February 18, a report by the LA Times said. He was 80.

Buss, who has owned the Lakers since 1979, has been plagued by undisclosed health concerns over the past few years and just last Thursday, was admitted to the hospital and was placed under intensive care.

In his stint with one of the NBA's most popular teams, Buss won 10 championships while also winning two with the WNBA's LA Sparks and getting inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010. - Rappler.com
