Alapag eyeing Talk ‘N Text return vs Rain or Shine
“I know we have another big game on Sunday so I’ll talk to coach Jong (Uichico) and we’ll see how it goes,” Alapag said

MANILA, Philippines – It may not be long before the Mighty Mouse sees PBA action again.

After missing the first 3 games of the Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters in the 2015 Philippine Cup, veteran playmaker Jimmy Alapag is hoping to make his return on Sunday, November 2 when the Texters face last conference’s finalists Rain or Shine.

“I know we have another big game on Sunday so I’ll talk to coach Jong (Uichico) and we’ll see how it goes,” said an eager Alapag after Talk ’N Text’s defeat at the hands of Alaska on Tuesday, October 28. “I don’t have a timetable as of yet but I need to get out here soon considering it’s a short format.”

While nothing is certain just yet, the 36-year old says it’s “possible” he’ll play on Sunday.

“I’m back in the gym (on Wednesday) to get some more work in,” he said.

Alapag has been taking time off following his stint with national team Gilas Pilipinas but has since been working on getting back to the PBA grind. The Texters currently have a 1-2 win-loss record.

He admitted he is not quite in game shape yet but is looking forward to testing the waters, like what fellow Gilas member Ranidel de Ocampo did in the last two games.

“I’m getting there. I’ve been working out for about two weeks now,” Alapag said.

“Just trying to get my legs underneath me and get the conditioning part. But I think part of that will be getting out there. It’s always different playing in practice as opposed to a game.” – Rappler.com
