Rey Guevarra added another dunk contest title to his mantle with an eclectic display of jams at Robinson's Place Manila

MANILA, Philippines – Rey Guevarra took home the Smart Slam Dunk Contest title of the 2015 FIBA 3×3 World Tour Manila Masters leg by outlasting American Porter Mayberry with a final score of 80 after 3 rounds at Robinson’s Place Manila on Sunday, August 2.

Also joined by Kobe’s Nyika Williams, the competition was judged by Gilas head coach Tab Baldwin, assistant coach Jimmy Alapag, and FIBA 3×3 Communications Manager Julian Debove.

The dunk exploits of the 28-year-old Guevarra are well documented, as the Meralco Bolts reserve has won the Philippine Basketball Association dunk contest the last two years (was co-champion in 2015 with Justin Melton).

Guevarra becomes the second Filipino to win a FIBA 3×3 dunk title this year after Kobe Paras repeated as FIBA 3×3 U18 World Championships dunk champ in June.

The dunk title was consolation for Guevarra after his Manila West team lost in the semifinals to Manila North. Manila North eventually lost in the finals to reigning FIBA 3×3 World Tour champions NoviSad AlWahda from Dubai.

In the PLDT Home Fibr 3-Point Shootout tourney, Terrence Romeo came away victorious after scoring 11 points.

Romeo, who also won the PBA All-Star Weekend Three-Point shootout competition this past year, hit 4 of 5 balls in the third rack. Jasmin Hercegovac of Jjubljana, Sammy Monroe of Doha, and Diftha Pratama of Medan also joined the competition.
