Pacquiao arrives in LA to begin training

MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao arrived at Los Angeles International Airport at 8:05 pm on Saturday, February 28 (Sunday Manila time) to officially begin training camp for his May 2 fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 knockouts) of General Santos City, Philippines had left the Philippines aboard Philippine Airlines Flight 102 at 9 pm the previous night after coaching a Philippine Basketball Association game between his KIA Carnival and rivals Blackwater Elite at the San Juan Arena.

Just arrived here in LA excited to focus training for the May 2 fight, thank you Lord for the guidance and protection and you up hold me with your righteous right hand.

A tired looking Pacquiao posted on his Instagram account: “Thank you Lord for the guidance and protection and you up hold me with your righteous right hand.”

Pacquiao, 36, will report to the gym on Monday, March 1 under the guidance of Roach’s assistant Marvin Somodio as head trainer Freddie Roach is in Macau finishing up preparations for Chinese boxer Zou Shiming’s March 7 challenge of IBF flyweight titleholder Amnat Ruenroeng.

The 38-year-old Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs) is expected to start training the same day. The fight will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. – Rappler.com
