MANILA, Philippines – Pro wrestlers are trained to make fake injuries look real, but what happens when the wrestlers get hurt for real?

Referees in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) should have plenty of practice considering the long list of its performers currently on the injured list, but one referee’s failure to take note of a wrestler’s injury earned him a major chewing out in the ring.

WWE wrestler Neville came up hobbling during a match with Chris Jericho this past Monday on RAW and had to call an audible to get out of the match before further damage could be done. Jericho proposed to the referee that he pin him quickly but the referee refused to acknowledge the 3 count.

Ever the veteran, Jericho realized he could end the match by shoving the referee, yelling “He’s hurt!” and being disqualified.

The pin attempt and the verbal interaction were cut out of WWE’s highlights of the match on YouTube.

Neville, it turns out, fractured his ankle in the match. He joins an all-star cast, including John Cena, Seth Rollins, and Bad News Barrett, on the WWE’s injured list.

Neville is expected to be out 2-3 months, meaning he could miss WrestleMania. – Rappler.com
