National University defeats University of the Philippines, 75-64

Four Bulldogs scored in double figures as NU improved to 5-1 in the tourney following its win against the Bo Perasol-coached UP Maroons. 

Ced Labing-isa and incoming National U rookie JV Gallego led the team in scoring with 14 points each, while team transferees Matt Salem and Matt Aquino had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Bulldogs shot 47% from the field while limiting the Maroons to only 1-of-15 shooting from downtown. Paul Desiderio finished with 28 points to lead UP while Jett Manuel added 12 and 5 rebounds.

The Maroons dropped to a 2-4 record.

San Beda defeats Adamson, 86-81

In the second game, the San Beda Red Lions improved their record to 5-1 after defeating the now 3-3 Adamson Soaring Falcons.

Donald Tankoua scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in only 26 minutes while AC Soberano had 10 points in the win for the Red Lions, who forced Adamson to 18 turnovers.

The Pirates, who dropped to a 1-6 slate, were spearheaded by the 21 points and 17 rebounds of Harry Nzeusseu. Edor Marata registered 13 points in the loss.

Ateneo defeats Mapua, 90-77

In the final game of the day, the Ateneo Blue Eagles bounced back from their loss to La Salle with a win against the now 1-6 Mapua Cardinals. 

Aaron Black led the now 4-2 Blue Eagles with 18 points and 7 boards while Thirdy Ravena, the younger brother of former UAAP MVP Kiefer, posted 11 and 9. 

Rookie Jolo Mendoza also played well with 11 points while Mike Nieto had 10 points.
