MANILA, Philippines — University of Santo Tomas star guard Jeric Teng says his injury isn’t too threatening, although he will need to sit down for a while to avoid further damage.

“The doctors say it’s nothing serious but I have to rest,” said Teng, who suffered from leg spasms in the second quarter of their loss to National University on Saturday, August 24.

Through an ultrasound, there were no tears found on his hamstring but the doctors will still have to check the body part again.

In his first game back from a shoulder injury, the Growling Tiger hurt his right hamstring while chasing Robin Rono on a fastbreak, immediately hobbled off the court and crumbled down in pain along the corridor near their dugout.

The UST community was able to breathe afterwards with Teng returning in the third quarter. However, he did not play for the rest of the match as UST absorbed a 61-75 defeat at the hands of NU.

Teng, who is still limping, will have a check-up tomorrow, hoping he’ll be able to recover in no time.

“I really hope it’s nothing bad.” – Rappler.com
