Twitter to roll out GIF searches for tweets, direct messages
GIF-searching capabilities for tweets and direct messages will be made available on Android, iOS, and Twitter.com

MANILA, Philippines – Looking for an animated image to share how you feel about a certain topic on Twittter? It will eventually be a couple of button presses away once a new GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) image-searching initiative is rolled out to everyone on the social media service.

Twitter announced Wednesday, February 17 (February 18, Manila time), that it was rolling out GIF searching capabilities for tweets and direct messages on Android, iOS, and Twitter.com.

Twitter has teamed up with GIPHY and Riffsy for this purpose. “GIPHY’s users are creating GIFs for news, entertainment, sports, and expression that can enrich Tweets. We’re excited to work with Twitter to make sharing these GIFs even easier,” said GIPHY founder and CEO Alex Chung.

To use the new feature, users who have it enabled on their devices can compose a tweet or direct message, tap the GIF icon, and either search manually or look for a GIF keyword, and then use a corresponding GIF with the tweet.

Interested users can also take advantage of the embedded tweet below for a quick tutorial, once they find the new feature enabled for their account.
