Android Wear devices from LG, Samsung now available
The LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live are now on sale on the Google Play Store

MANILA, Philippines – Two devices running Android Wear, Google’s new operating system for wearables go on sale starting Wednesday, June 25 (June 26 in Manila). The LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live are both expected to appear on the Google Play Store in at least 12 countries later today.

Announced back in March, LG’s G Watch is one of the first devices on the new platform. The G Watch has a 1.65-inch IPS LCD display and runs off a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage runs and 400mAh battery. LG’s watch is available in white and black and comes with changeable straps. It will be available the United States, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, South Korea and Japan.

Samsung’s Android Wear powered Gear Live smart watch was only officially unveiled at today’s Google I/O keynote.  Just like its Tizen powered sibling the Gear 2, the new Gear Live sports the same form factor, heart rate monitor and spec sheet that includes a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display, 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM and a 300mAh battery. The Gear Live is available in black and red, also with interchangeable strap options and retails for $200.

A third Android Wear device, so far the only round one and the most anticipated of the lot, the Moto 360 from Motorola also made an appearance during the I/O keynote. Google says the device will be available later this Summer.

According to Google’s Director of Engineering David Singleton the average Android smartphone user looks at his phone 125 times a day. Android wear is meant to act as a bridge device the delivers important notifications so that users can steal glances while remaining engaged as they interact with their surroundings. – Rappler.com
