PLDT reports restored Manila services

AFP

(UPDATED) PLDT says it has resolved the issue causing the interruption in service to its landline voice services in Metro Manila, Cavite, and Laguna

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) reported on Facebook at approximately 4:13 pm that “PLDT’s landline voice services were fully restored at 3:05 pm today.”

The restoration follows a malfunction in one of its switching facilities in Quezon City earlier Friday, August 15, affecting services for home and business users in parts of Metro Manila, Cavite and Laguna.

Reports on an earlier post to the PLDT Home Facebook account pointed to certain areas – such as Rizal, Pasig, and parts of Quezon City – being unable to make calls or receive incoming calls. Social media reports indicate that users cannot send or receive calls despite their phones having a dial tone.

PLDT itself said in a statement that Southern Luzon provinces of Cavite and Laguna are affected as well.

Some indicate that their landline-based Internet connection are having problems as well.

A statement released by the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company at approximately 1:49 pm notes that “PLDT’s landline voice services experienced an outage around 10 am today due to a malfunction in one of its switching facilities in Quezon City, affecting residential and enterprise customers in parts of Metro Manila, Cavite, and Laguna.”
