Google Photos to launch with ‘unlimited’ space
Google Photos will offer unlimited storage for photos and videos, with resolution limited to 16 megapixels and 1080p for videos

MANILA, Philippines – Google just became a big player in the photo storage industry. The company announced Thursday, May 28 (May 29 Manila time) that it was launching Google Photos, its latest photo hosting service for users on Web, Android, and iOS.

According to the announcement from the Google I/O conference, Google Photos will offer unlimited storage for photos and videos, with resolution limited to 16 megapixels and 1080p for videos.

Higher resolution files can also take advantage of Google Drive storage for that extra bump in image quality.

One of the big draws of Google Photos is the introduction of improved machine learning for better organization of images and videos. According to their demonstration, Google will analyze images and videos to organize your stored media, allowing users to pinch the screen to delineate between days, months, and years.

You can also search through your images for context-sensitive moments. Google demonstrated that bit by searching for “snowstorm in Toronto” to find for a specific set of photos that occurred in the past.
