Parts of Robredo plane recovered

MANILA, Philippines – Rescuers have found parts of the Piper Seneca aircraft that crashed off Masbate as search and rescue operations for Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and two other passengers of the plane continues on Sunday, August 19.

Transportation Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas posted on his Twitter account a photo of what he said appeared to be the right wing of the plane.

“Debris – appears to be right wing. (Numbers) are part of aircraft designation RPC-4431,” he said.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council earlier said that fishermen recovered the fuel tank of the plane from Masbate waters Saturday evening.

Search and rescue operations for Robredo and the two pilots of the plane are ongoing.

Robredo was on board the plane bound for Naga when it crashed hundreds of meters away from the Masbate airport on Saturday. The plane reportedly encountered engine problems, and attempted an emergency landing but didn’t make it. – Rappler.com
