Announcement: The theme aims to reflect the character of the ideal Visayan Youth which is to be resilient in times of crisis

This is an announcement from SCAP Visayas

BACOLOD, Philippines – The first Visayan Youth Leadership Summit will be held on October 22-24 in Bacolod City.

The theme, “Student Leaders: #SuperResilient,” aims to reflect the character of the ideal Visayan youth which is to be resilient in times of crisis.

“SCAP has come to realize the need to equip leaders to become the superheroes of change for our generation. Anchored on the 9th National Congress’ theme, ‘#BuildBetterTogether’, SCAP aims to harness the unity and solidarity of Visayan Student Leaders in addressing pressing issues in today’s time,” said SCAP Visayas chairperson Rachel Antoinette Contreras.

This summit will bring together student leaders from Negros Island, Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas for a common goal: to stand as one Visayas in strengthening the awareness of young participants on pressing social issues.

Through this summit, they will also get the chance to know other young people with similar goals.

“The program revolves around the various campaigns of the alliance in line with the principles it upholds such as Youth in DRR, Reproductive Health, Anti-Human Trafficking and Students Rights. There will be a series of talks and interactive discussions on SCAP’s campaigns and at the end of the summit, the delegates are expected to build concrete programs on how to address these issues as well as uphold the alliance’s various campaigns,” Contreras added.

A registration fee of P 2750 is pegged for delegates registering before October 15, 2015 and P 3000 for delegates registering beyond the said date.

The registration fee is inclusive of accommodation for 3 nights, meals for the event, and a summit kit (ID, lanyard, t-shirt and program).

For local delegates coming from Bacolod, registration fee is pegged at P 2000 inclusive of meals for the event and a summit kit (ID, lanyard, t-shirt and program).

“We know that the best chance for us to make a change is for the youth to be resilient,” Contreras said, stressing that united “our voice is strong, and our spirit too tough to dampen. We could all be the superheroes our generation needs,” Rappler.com
