Senator’s mom named UP Regent

MANILA, Philippines – President Aquino on Thursday, February 9, appointed Evelina Buencamino Guevara-Escudero as a member of the Board of Regents of the University of the Philippines.

Guevara-Escudero is the mother of Senator Francis Joseph Escudero, a close ally of President Aquino and Vice-President Jejomar Binay. She is the wife of former Agriculture Secretary Salvador Escudero III.

She will replace Regent Magdaleno Albarracin Jr., and will serve a term expiring on February 18, 2014.

Guevara-Escudero obtained her Home Economics degree from the University of the Philippines, and later, her Masters in Educational Administration and her doctorate in education from the same institution.

Also on Thursday,  Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda announced the appointment of the following judges to the Metropolitan Trial Court of Caloocan City:

• Judge Marlo Campanilla, Branch 83
• Judge Dennis Rafa, Branch 84
• Judge Michael Francisco, Branch 85; and
• Judge Lourdes Grace Barrientos Sasondoncillo,  Branch 86.

Campanilla was 4th Assistant City Prosecutor in Manila at the time of his appointment. Rafa was Prosecutor II of Makati City.

Sasondoncillo served as graft investigation and Prosecution Officer I of the Office of the Ombudsman.

Francisco, for his part, served as general counsel of HTT Realty & Recreational Corporation, Lionhead Int’l Corporation, Jomark Food Corporation, and Millennium Ocean Star Corporation.  – Rappler.com
