The following is a press release from the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines

Business leaders in the European-Philippine business community are set to gather at the 4th EU-Philippines Business Summit (EPBS).

Formerly known as the EU-Philippines Business Dialogue, this is the 4th year that the EU-funded project will be hosting the event, in partnership with the European, British, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Nordic Chambers of Commerce along with the Belgian-Filipino Business Club.

With more than 350 delegates from Europe, Asia, and the Philippines expected to attend, the EPBS 2017 is expected to be the biggest European business event of the year. The EPBS is a trade forum held in celebration of EU-Philippine trade and investment ties as well as a key venue for facilitating dialogue between key industry players and the Philippine government.

This year, the summit’s theme is “The EU & the Philippines: Partners for Progress and Prosperity.” Delegates can expect a full day of discussions on key topics that are high on the agenda of the European and Filipino business community on Tuesday, October 17 2017 at the Solaire Grand Ballroom.

The summit will be divided into 4 main parts, with the morning sessions focusing on Part I: EU Investment Strategies and Major Opportunities and Challenges for the EU Business Community and Part II: Creating a More Competitive Business Environment for the Philippines.

The afternoon sessions will focus on Part III: The ASEAN Integration while Part IV will cover industries with high investment potential. During the Summit, the 2017 edition of the EPBN Advocacy Papers will also be formally handed over to the Philippine government.

The EPBN Advocacy Papers is a collection of insightful position papers on major reforms that are crucial for the competitiveness of both European and Filipino businesses alike.

“The yearly EU-Philippines Business Summit is the premier opportunity for European business leaders to interface with the Philippine government. It provides a great opportunity for dialogue between the public and private sectors, especially on relevant issues such as tax reform, the EU-Philippines Free Trade Agreement, and liberalizing economic activities. With this year’s Summit, we continue to work toward strengthening EU-Philippine business relations and ultimately spur further interest in the Philippines’ many opportunities,” ECCP President Guenter Taus said.

During the EPBS, discussions are expected to focus on Philippine trade and investment regulations currently in place, as well as the changes necessary to further improve the country’s position as a competitive destination in ASEAN and global markets.

The summit is expected to identify action points to be carried forward as joint priorities for the new administration, Congress and the EU-Philippine business community.
