MANILA, Philippines – Huawei has two variants of its Mate 10 flagship phablets: the standard and the Pro. They’re both great phones released in the last quarter of 2017, with neat specs at a competitive price. We went so far as to say that the Mate 10 was among the best of the year. 

The Mate 10 was a good deal because of its price: P33,000 (P32,990 officially), all while packing a top-of-the-line Huawei chip (the Kirin 970), dual Leica cameras, and a premium look that had naysayers going “This is a Huawei?!”

Huawei has certainly been making inroads towards imprinting its own unique design identity, and it continues with the Mate 10. It’s not a Samsung, it’s not an Apple; it’s its own person. 

Of course, for anyone who’s considered the Mate 10, it’s only diligent to make sure that they check out the Pro version too. What am I not getting from the standard that the Pro has? Is the Pro’s naturally more expensive price justified? 

More or less, they’re the same phones. Same chip. Same cameras. Same battery (4,000 mAh). So we come down to a few key differences such as the aspect ratio, the display type and resolution, the ergonomics, and the absence of certain parts like the audio jack and microSD slot that might be a dealbreaker for some.
