The plant will have a maximum capacity of 3.4 million pallets per year for cold storage and 9.72 million kilograms per year for blast freezing.
It will employ around 80 people.
The plant will cater to agriculture, marine and processed food companies based in Bulacan and northern Luzon provinces that offer these products:
- Unprocessed products
- Semi-processed raw materials
- Finished products
- Perishable commodities such as fruits, vegetables, livestock and poultry products
- Processed marine products
Industry group Cold Chain Association of the Philippines (CCAP) welcomed the approval of the project, saying it is much needed to meet demand for safe and quality food supply in the country.
CCAP also said the project will enhance the competitiveness of the agriculture sector and connected businesses such as supermarkets.
The group plans to put up cold storage and blast freezing facilities in the southern cities of Mindanao as well as cities and municipalities in northern and central Luzon, and central Visayas in the coming years. – Rappler.com
