DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo said the scholarship exam, scheduled on Sunday, September 22, will be postponed in the following areas: Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Sibugay, Dipolog City, Pagadian City, Basilan Province, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Montejo said the cities of Dipolog and Pagadian were included based on the recommendation of the DOST IX Regional Office.

Meanwhile, exams in Basilan Province, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi are cancelled as examiners from said areas would have to take the flight to Zamboanga City to go to their designated test centers.

A total of 1, 809 examinees in eight (8) test centers in the said areas will be affected by the postponement.

SEI Director Dr. Filma Brawner said they will coordinate with the concerned offices on the new schedule of the scholarship exam once the crisis in Zamboanga City is solved and the situation goes back to normal.

“We shall announce through the media the new schedule of the exams in the affected areas,” said Brawner.

The scholarship exam will be administered on September 22, 2013 in 141 test centers strategically located nationwide. Based on DOST-SEI records, 35,562 qualified graduating high school students will be taking the said exam. (30)
