IN PHOTOS: ‘Walking Dead’ zombie horror house now open

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to live in a world overrun by zombies, this is your chance to find out. Megaworld Lifestyle Malls is celebrating Halloween with a horror house inspired by the hit TV series The Walking Dead.

Located in the Central Plaza of Eastwood City, the attraction is built to resemble the prison where the main characters in the series find themselves in during the third season. (READ: 30 TV shows: Where to watch in the Philippines)

Of course, it’s a much simpler version, but a wired fence, ominous warning signs and spooky sounds from within will make even the bravest of souls think twice about venturing inside. (RELATED: Mysterious game: Escaping the traps at Breakout PH)

What to expect

You don’t have to be a fan of The Walking Dead to appreciate the so-called Haunted Prison House. 

It’s basically like a regular horror attraction you would see at an amusement park. The difference is that Eastwood was able to license the Walking Dead brand. And judging by the show’s immense popularity – the season 5 premiere broke basic cable ratings record a few weeks ago – the mall certainly made the right call.

(If you’re a fan of Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Carol and the rest, you’re out of luck as they won’t be there to protect you). 

Yes, there are “zombies,” or “walkers” in TWD parlance. Yes, you will have to walk your way through and encounter quite a few of the snarling, decomposing half-corpses. But even if you’re easily terrified of such things, once you reach the end (and don’t worry, you probably will), you’ll realize that the experience is actually quite fun.

A few reminders

Those brave enough to take the challenge will be briefed with a few rules before entering the horror house., including the following:

• The maximum number of persons per group is 6. You can choose to go in alone, but I highly advise against it. Besides, ushers will probably ask you to join another group so best to go there with family or friends.
• Stay along the marked path at all times.
• Running and pushing are not allowed. So is touching or hurting the “zombies.” Remember, they’re just actors. (Or are they?)
• No video or photography inside. You’re free to take pictures outside, before or after going through.
• Children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
• Pregnant women and those suffering from heart ailments, respiratory problems, seizures, nervous disorders, motion sickness, claustrophobia, and other related medical conditions are not allowed inside, for obvious reasons.

How much?

P100 gets you in one time. If you want to go in again, you can do so after getting in line and paying another P100.
