Student filmmakers come together for UP Cinema’s Piling Obrang Vidyo

MANILA, Philippines – Student filmmakers from all over the country gather once again for UP Cinema’s Piling Obrang Vidyo (POV), an interschool short film competition.

Now on its 11^th year, Piling Obrang Vidyo continues to be a venue where young filmmakers from various colleges and universities could showcase their talents and skills on the big screen. These future movers of Philippine Cinema continue to unite, all for the sake of creating a new history for the fresh eyes of the youth and even the stakeholders of the industry.

This year’s pool of participants hail from 11 universities such as the University of the Philippines, University of San Carlos, Meridian International College, Far Eastern University, and Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba, among others. They will compete in the three categories namely Documentary, Experimental, and Narrative category. Finalists in the competition will compete for several awards including a best film for each category, Viewer’s Choice Award, The Cinemaster’s Choice Award, and eight citations for the Narrative. Piling Obrang Vidyo 11’s jury is composed of highly-regarded film industry players including Erik Matti, Nora Aunor, Ricky Lee, Rox Lee, Keith Sicat, Raya Martin and a lot more.

Piling Obrang Vidyo 11 is on January 24, 2015, Saturday at UP Cine Adarna Theatre, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. Finalists will be screened at 1 P.M., with the awards ceremony following thereafter. UP Cinema will also be hosting an after party.
