Marian Rivera says parents should be honest to kids about the reality of COVID-19

Marian Rivera said that parents should be honest when talking to their children about COVID-19.

“Well siguro pwede naman sabihin ng mga parents not in a harsh way pero yung totoo lang at ano talaga ang nangyayari outside,” she said during a press conference for the launch of “Flora Vida Home” on Monday, December 7.

(I guess you say it in a way that isn’t harsh but is still true to what’s happening outside.)

The actress said her daughter Zia, 5, is already aware of the situation.

“Ang maganda sa amin ni Dong (Dantes), very transparent kami kay Zia. Kinakausap namin siya the way na maiintindihan niya kung anong nagyayari outside.”

(Dong and I are very transparent when it comes to Zia. We talk to her so she’d understand what’s happening outside.)

“Never kami nag-filter sa kanya kung anong nangyayari outside. So malinaw at mahalaga din siguro sa bata na nalalaman niya yung realidad at katotohanan,” she said.

(We don’t filter what’s happening outside. So it’s clear and I guess it’s important for a child to know the reality and truth.)

Marian said that Zia herself reminds them about safety protocols.

“Everytime na lalabas ako, may shoot ako [itatanong niya] ‘mama did you do the test? Mama are you okay, did you put alcohol, did you change damit?’ May ganun na siya, so aware siya na kailangan nag-aalcohol, nagpapalit ng damit from outside. So alam niya lahat iyon. At honest kami sa kanya doon so alam niya iyon.” Marian said.

(When I go out for a shoot she asks me: “Mama, did you take the test? Are you ok? Did you use alcohol? Did you change your clothes?” She asks these things because she knows that you need to disinfect, change from your outside clothes. So she’s aware of all that.
