MANILA, Philippines – Despite often being compared to other young actors, teen heartthrob Daniel Padilla said there is no rivalry between them most especially when it comes to another popular leading man, Enrique Gil.

During the press conference for his upcoming concert Most Wanted, Daniel said he and Enrique are good friends. (READ: Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla: No feud between us and JaDine)

“Wala naman ako kinokompetisyon kahit kanino. Lahat naman kaibigan ko. Si Enrique kaibigan ko simula pa lang noon. Sa industriya wala naman kailangan i-kompetisyon kung kumportable ka naman sa sarili mo,” he said.

(I don’t compete with anyone. All of them are my friends. Enrique has been my friend from the start. In the industry, you don’t need to compete if you are comfortable with yourself.)

He also said that he supportive of his brother JC, who entered the music industry. When asked if there is any sibling rivalry, Daniel said no. 

But it’s a different story when his sister Carmela, 8, is involved. Daniel said he would prefer that Carmela be more mature before entering showbiz. 

“Hindi pa [puwede]. Kapag trenta na siya. Gusto ko tsaka na siya mag-artista kapag matured na si Carmela. Ayaw ko na hindi pa siya nagma-mature. Gusto ko mature na siya tapos saka na siya papasok sa industriya,” he said.

(Not now. Probably when she’s 30. I want Carmela to enter when she’s matured enough. I don’t want her to enter when she is not ready. I want her to be matured enough then she is ready to enter the industry.)

When asked if he is okay with Carmela being teamed up with Bimby and being called the next Kathniel, Daniel said: Good. Walang masama maging (there’s nothing wrong with being) Kathniel. Malupit yun (That would be great.).”

As to his prosperous career, Daniel believes that he was fortunate to be with the right people.

“Siguro iyon lang ang sekreto – makikinig ka lang at alam kung ano ang tama at mali.” he said.

(I guess that’s the secret – to listen and know what is right and wrong.)

Entitled Most Wanted, Daniel’s upcoming concert will feature KZ Tandingan, Gary Valenciano, Edgar Allan Guzman, Nyoy Volante, and Kyla as some of his guests. The concert will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, June 13 with live telecast in SM Theaters in the country.
