Lian Buan is a senior investigative reporter, and minder of Rappler's justice, human rights and crime cluster.
She specializes in legal reporting, looking at the gaps of the justice system, both local and international. She has reported extensively on prison conditions, anomalies in high-level procurements, and politics in the judiciary.
She has a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Human Rights from the Birkbeck College, University of London where she was a Chevening scholar. She obtained her journalism undergraduate degree from the University of Santo Tomas.
She was a two-time Jaime V. Ongpin journalism fellow from 2020 to 2021.
